This weekend I'll be spending a lot of time crossing out tasks on the massive list generated by publishing a lit mag for the first time. I'm happy with the state of all the submissions and with the new rendering of the cover art, so all that's left is formatting tasks, figuring out Kindle publishing, and overall coherence.
I'm having fun even though it's a lot of stressful, busy-ish work. Because June is over, I can also look ahead to my goals for the second half of the year and turning my attention to some neglected areas that need attention. But that doesn't mean my work on Hapax will be ending here, either--I have a contest planned that I need to generate materials for and promote, and of course the next round of submissions after that to look forward to.

My painting, 'In the Water,' is coming out in the New England Review online. It's been in their database for a while along with some other paintings, but after a false start with one of them, I finally have some good news.
My poem/short prose piece/list/hybrid whatever 'cat: a google search,' is coming out in the Binnacle as one of the Ultra-Short Honorable Mentions. I know it had a strange format, so I'm not surprised that it didn't place, but I'm happy that they selected it for publication nonetheless. Last week was the one-year anniversary of Tango's death, and 'cat: a google search' was my attempt at writing what is essentially nonfiction or documentary fiction that memorializes him. I have some other pending submissions, but nothing spectacular as the summer is traditionally a slow time for submission and I'm focused on generating work right now. 50k words, no excuses this time. Let's all get up and BITCH (butt in the chair, honey!)
I have:
There's that literary journal I need to publish, still, and I'd like to have that done before the flash workshop begins on July 11th, but now I think it'd be better to publish it after the 4th. Likewise, I have some important guild meetings this month ahead of WoW's Legion expansion. So, it's never not nothing. Please let me know if you are doing Campnano this month, and good luck to all my fellow writers. |
